Kelly has great compassion for animals since she was a little girl, in particular, she has devoted a lot of time in helping the stray dogs – feeding them and help them to find new homes.

Since 2003, Kelly has started to keep stray dogs at her place. She remembers very well that the first one she saved was a new-born puppy, “in a trash station in Tai Po, I found a new-born female puppy inside a plastic bag. Without second thought, I brought her home ”. Because of the living area is not large, Kelly could only keep small animals and at one time, there were over 50 dogs and 50 rabbits at her place. For those she couldn’t keep at her place, Kelly would send them to dog shelter and she would make donations to support their living. So far, Kelly has sponsored over 200 dogs.

Unfortunately, the dog shelter receiving Kelly’s donations was expelled by the landlord in end 2007/early 2008. Kelly then started up her own dog shelter at Lau Foul Shan with a friend and since then, rescuing more and more abandoned and stray dogs. Because of the increasing workload of the dog shelter, Kelly finally quitted her job in 2008 and since then, she work full-time in the dog shelter.

In the summer of 2009, Kelly’s dog shelter was badly hit by typhoon Molave. Fortunately, with the help of donators, sufficient funds were raised to keep the shelter in operation upto now.

At this moment, there are more than 200 homeless dogs in Kelly’s Dog Shelter. Without governmental sponsor, Kelly Dog Shelter is entirely self-financed and funds are raised through donations only.
